The lyric baritone Guido Weber is equally at home in opera, operetta, and musicals as he is on the concert stage and in oratorio. Born in Frankfurt, the singer began his vocal studies at the age of 14, continuing them at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre, where he graduated with a diploma. Today, Guido Weber works freelance and performs as a guest artist at numerous stages both in Germany and abroad. Engagements have taken him to, among others, the Leipzig Opera, the Graz Opera House, the Linz State Theatre, and the Tyrolean State Theatre in Innsbruck under the artistic direction of Kammersängerin Brigitte Fassbaender.
Guido Weber's musical spectrum ranges from Eisenstein in the comic opera "Die Fledermaus" to Danilo in Lehár's operetta "The Merry Widow," and extends to musicals, in which the singer has developed a broad repertoire in recent years: He has sung and acted Higgins in "My Fair Lady" in nine different productions, played Javert in "Les Misérables," and Fred Graham in the Cole Porter musical "Kiss Me, Kate" in a production by Hartwig Rudolz. Weber appeared in "A Midsummer Night's Dream" at the Ettlingen Palace Festival, and the baritone has also performed at the Dresden State Operetta, the Leipzig Musical Comedy, and in Düsseldorf. Leading roles in "Evita," "Gigi," Gershwin's "Crazy for You," "The Wizard of Oz," and "The Fireworks," as well as an active concert schedule performing major sacred and secular works, complete Guido Weber's musical career.
