Giomar Sthel is a native Brazilian. In Rio de Janeiro, his birthplace, he received his first music lessons at an early age. He performed at festivals, as a soloist in orchestral concerts, as a recitalist, and in various chamber music ensembles, and received awards in competitions. In 1986, he moved to Europe to study at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague and the Schola Cantorum in Basel. In the following years he not only performed at festivals in Europe but also gave concerts in Japan, Israel, the USA, Ukraine, and Kenya. Between 2010 and 2020, he devoted himself primarily to early music. As a conductor and gambist, he initiated and led extensive concert projects that were celebrated by both the public and critics. In 2008, he founded the Renaissance music ensemble LALA HÖHÖ. During his studies of historical music, he rediscovered the Missa In Summis of 1514 by the German composer Heinrich Finck in the manuscript collection of the Stuttgart State Library. He subsequently presented this important work, fully reconstructed by him, for the first time in fourteen concerts in Baden-Württemberg and France. For this significant undertaking, he received a grant from the Baden-Württemberg Foundation and the City of Stuttgart in 2014.
